♡ A VERY SPECIAL WEDDING | NZ Beauty Month EP. 01 | Philippa Mae ♡

Vivian Fitall (actually, now Mrs. Vivian Waller) is a 20 year old mother of a 9 month old girl, Sophie. Like many in her family, Vivian has FAP , however hers has rapidly degenerated in multiple forms of aggressive cancer. At the time of writing, she literally has only weeks to live.

Amongst the chaos, Vivian's partner Jack proposed! It was decided that due to the nature of her illness, the wedding had to happen ASAP! It was organised in one week, and everything was donated. I happened to stumble across Vivian's Facebook page and offered to do her wedding makeup.

I am so excited to share this video with you. During this busy time I really felt like I was part of something amazing, and very much uniquely Kiwi - complete strangers coming together and doing whatever they could to help. Kiwi ingenuity at it's finest.

You can donate here, to help secure the future of Vivian's previous baby girl, Sophie.

NEW ZEALAND BEAUTY MONTH!

We are now back up and running!

It's the end of Summer in New Zealand, which means the end of rolling out of bed, stepping OVER your fluffy slippers and heading in the direction of coffee - no sign a goosebump or shiver or dressing gown.

But this month, as you are gingerly peeling back the warm covers, warming your hands over your coffee and secretly feeling smug that warmer clothing means you can get away with not shaving your legs, you now have something else to look forward to - NEW ZEALAND BEAUTY MONTH!

This month on my channel I am celebrating all things KIWI! New Zealand beauty companies, websites, designers, celebrities. What will this mean for you? Reviews from different companies who are also sponsoring GIVEAWAYS! Yup.. free stuff!

Along with all the above, New Zealand Beauty Month is also a time to celebrate the amazing stories and makeovers of everyday Kiwis. I'll be taking you along with me and giving you a taste of my life as a freelance makeup artist.

Episode 01 of New Zealand Beauty Month is the perfect start to this project.

I'd love for you to follow me along on this project, whether you're a Kiwi gal (or guy) or an international viewer. I really hope you will all enjoy this celebration of all things Kiwi and beauty.

GRRRRR....deep breath....smile!

Some of you may have seen my youtube vlog about...well...THIS blog. When I filmed it, I had been playing with some of my MAC pigments (I am constantly "phasing" between wearing MAC shadows and pigments). It had been a while, and I really liked the result. Painterly Paint Pot all over the lids, Tea Time in the crease and Vanilla as a highlight under the brow bone, and finished with some black liquid liner along the top lash line (plus a quick swipe of lipstick).

So I decided that that was going to be my next tutorial. I filmed it, edited it, and uploaded it. FAIL. Converted it to a different format, and uploaded it again. FAIL. Those of you who have been following me for a while will know that my relationship with technology is somewhat delicate. At the moment my computer and I are barely on speaking terms. I don't know whether to re-film it, re-edit it, and attempt to re-upload it (not doing anything differently, because I don't actually know what I did wrong..)

So I don't know what will happen. I am (deep breath) trying to upload it one last time (slowly exhale). I'm not actually expecting it to work..

..So here are a few photos showing you the colours I used in this tutorial (slightly different from what I was wearing in my vlog)

From top to bottom, the colours (all MAC pigments) are:

Tan
Tea Time
Silver Fog
Vanilla

I would never have thought of using Silver Fog with these other fairly neutral colours, but I loved the way it turned out - just a little extra dazzle/sparkle that I sometimes LOVE.

I have to say, Vanilla is one of my favourite beauty products EVER, and I'm not alone in that opinion - it is one of my top-selling pigment samples. It is just so versatile! Add it over the lids once you've basically finished your eyes, and you get a sheer pearly effect, or (my fave) use it as a highlight just under your brows. I could go on but I won't bore you.

I won't bore you, EXCEPT to tell you again how much I love this lipstick, Snob. As you may know, I usually shy away from bright lips - no one wants to look trashy or like they are trying to hard, but this colour is just so PRETTY! and girly! It makes me feel like a grown-up, brunette version of Barbie (haha in a good way!)

I would DEFINITELY recommend trying it - it's a mid pink, that is...well you can see for yourself.

OK well the bad (but nevertheless predictable) news is that my upload FAILed. I'm not going to re-do it at the stage..so many other colours to play with! So I'll try another tutorial and cross my fingers and toes that it works. But for now, here is a picture of what you missed. I hate taking pictures of myself - don't wanna be THAT girl, but I have to show you what it looks like somehow..

I'm off to try round two..wish me luck!!

XOXO

Why I started this blog...

Okay.

Most of you will know me from youtube as BabyMac004 (my name is Philippa by the way). With a baby (well toddler *sniff*) to take care of, as well as a (fledgling) business to run (more on that in another post), I can only film, edit and upload videos when there is a window of opportunity...and those windows are pretty rare! so doing it this way is much easier...

...don't worry! I will still catch those pesky windows when they appear! One of my new years resolutions was to upload more often (but now I'm getting off topic - I'll do a whole other post on my resolutions).

ANYWAY!

I plan on sharing with you guys my favourite looks, whether it's makeup, hair, or fashion. I am SO passionate about COLOURS! I think that's what draws me to makeup - coz I'm really not your typical "makeup" girly girl. I like to drink with the boys. I like to run around like a lunatic and get dirty. I like reading, painting, playing the piano, singing, dancing (ok this is kinda girly) like crazy with my favourite girls out on the town. But...yeah...don't know where I was going with that.

I'm sitting here thinking about what my first ACTUAL BabyMacBeauty blog is going to be on, and I think I'm going to share with you guys my favourite products, maybe a few swatches etc..maybe even and OOTD? Let me know what you think..

Right. My window is rappidly closing (that is, my son is yelling "Mama! Nana! (banana) Yumyumyum!"

XOXO
